Hey! Just a junior here trying to navigate the day-to-day of high school. In your opinion, what is the most difficult material that high school students typically encounter? As someone invested in college admissions and seeing students succeed, I often hear that the most challenging concepts high school students encounter are often in the math and science department - usually when studying for AP Calculus or AP Physics. More times than not, it's the calculus concepts of integrals and derivatives that students grapple with. Similarly, in AP Physics, it's the concepts of electricity and magnetism that seem to cause the most confusion.

However, it's important to remember that the difficulty of academic subjects can be rather subjective since it depends on a student's strengths and interests. Some students might excel in solving calculus problems but struggle to analyze and interpret literary texts in AP English Literature.

In terms of coping strategies, the best techniques for difficult subjects are practice, patience, and seeking out help when needed. Working through homework problems, doing additional practice problems, and reviewing concepts until you are comfortable with them, are key. Don't be discouraged if you don't understand a concept immediately; sometimes it takes a little time for the material to click.

Make good use of your teachers and peers. If you're having a hard time with something, don't hesitate to ask for help. You might also consider forming study groups with classmates - discussing concepts and solving problems together can lead to a deeper understanding.

In addition, educate yourself about various online resources that could be helpful. There might be videos out there explaining the challenging AP Calc or AP Physics concepts in a way that's easier for you to grasp, or forums where students share tips for understanding complex themes in English Literature. Best of luck to you!
