Experience with Online High Schools?

Hey guys! I've been looking at remote learning options and was wondering which online high schools are the most popular? Also, if any of you have attended or are attending an online high school, can you share your experience?

Online high schools can indeed be a viable option for students who need more flexibility, personalized learning plans, or a different learning environment compared to traditional schools.

A few popular ones that you might want to look into include Florida Virtual School, James Madison High School, K12 International Academy, Laurel Springs School, and Connections Academy. These schools are fully accredited, offer a wide range of courses (including AP classes), and have established reputations in the virtual learning community.

In terms of experience, this can greatly vary from student to student. At an online high school, you'll typically have a more flexible schedule and the ability to learn at your own pace. This can be a major plus for students who are involved in time-intensive activities, such as competitive sports or arts, or for students who learn better at different times of the day.

For instance, some students appreciate the flexibility and note that they can learn more efficiently by using the time flexibility to study during their most productive hours.

However, remember that online learning also requires self-discipline. In absence of traditional classroom structure, some students might find it hard to stay on top of their coursework. Also, while most online high schools try to create a sense of community via online interactions, some students could still miss the social dynamics of a physical school.

Just as with choosing any school, it would be beneficial to consider your learning style, educational needs, extracurricular interests, and future plans when choosing an online high school. Also, consider reaching out to students or alumni of these schools to get more personalized information as experiences may vary quite a bit from one student to another.
