Which high school subjects predict future success?

Hey guys, I'm trying to finalize my schedule for senior year. I'm curious--is there a certain field of study or specific courses in high school that are typically associated with successful careers post-college? I'm open to all possibilities but just looking for insights.

A central theme in both high school and college education is the promotion of critical thinking skills. So, regardless of the particular field of study, subjects that challenge you to think critically, solve problems, and push through difficult tasks, are valuable in preparing you for career success.

For example, strong math skills are often associated with success in fields that involve analytical thinking, such as computer science, engineering, finances, or statistics. The rigorous analytical thinking skills you develop in these courses can be hugely beneficial in a variety of careers.

Similarly, courses in the humanities (English, history, philosophy, etc.) can promote strong communication and analytical skills, which are highly sought after in careers such as law, journalism, public relations, marketing, etc.

Science classes not only contribute to analytical thinking but also to understanding of the natural world, which can be beneficial in fields like medicine, environmental sciences, and research.

Coding has also become an incredibly valuable skill. Taking a computer science class or learning a programming language could significantly enhance your employability in many fields.

Languages, on the other hand, can open up doors in international business, global public health, diplomacy, social work, and much more.

That said, the most important thing is to take classes that interest you and challenge you, because these are the ones where you are most likely to put in the effort and do well. Remember, the skills you learn in high school can certainly contribute to your future career success, but they do not determine it. Your determination, curiosity, work ethic, and adaptability play a significant role in your future success as well.
