Academic Year Duration

I'm hoping to schedule some activities and internships, so need a bit of info. When does the academic year typically begin and end for most high schools?

For most high schools in the United States, the academic year typically begins in late August or early September and ends in late May or early June. However, this can vary depending on the region and type of school. For example, schools following a traditional calendar might commence around Labor Day (the first Monday of September) and end around Memorial Day (the last Monday of May) the following year.

On the other hand, schools operating on a year-round calendar divide the academic year into quarters with short breaks in between, typically starting in July and ending in June. If your school follows a semester calendar, it may have two large vacations - one in winter (December to January) and another in the summer (June to August) with the academic year ending around late May or early June.

Please note that this is a general guideline. Your high school's specific start and end dates for the academic year might differ a bit. It would be best to check your school's academic calendar to ensure you have the exact dates, as this will give you the most accurate information for planning.
