Most applied to US Colleges

Hello! I'm starting the college application process, and I'm trying to figure out which colleges are the most competitive. Does anyone know which US colleges receive the most applications each year?

Sure, I would be happy to provide some insight! Understanding application volume can give you an idea of how competitive a college's admissions process might be, along with more traditional metrics such as acceptance rate.

Among the colleges that traditionally receive the most applications each year, you'll find a mix of public and private institutions from across the country. The University of California system tends to attract a high number of applications. In particular, UCLA and UC San Diego often make the list of most-applied-to schools.

Moving towards the East Coast, New York University (NYU) also sees a significant number of applications as it is a popular choice for those interested in a unique urban living experience in the heart of one of the world's most vibrant cities.

In terms of private Ivy League institutions, you'll see schools like Harvard, Columbia, and Penn receiving a large number of applications as well.

Keep in mind though, a high number of applications does not always mean these colleges are the most competitive or will be the best fit for you. There are many other factors you should consider like academics, location, size, campus culture, and financial aid. Choosing a college is a very personal decision and you should focus on what is important to you!
