Seeking Summer Internships 2024

Summer 2024 is coming and I'm keen to do an internship that will help me explore career options and build my resume. Does anyone have advice on finding high school-friendly internships or pre-college programs that are still accepting applications for Summer 2024?

Sure! Given that you're in high school, there are actually a number of internships and pre-college programs that are particularly designed for students like you.

For internships, I suggest doing the following:

1. Local Business Outreach: Reach out to local businesses or organizations related to your field of interest. Many places would appreciate an extra pair of hands in the summer season and it illustrates your initiative.

2. Network: Speak with your teachers, guidance counselors, family, and friends to see if they know of anyone looking for summer interns. It's often easier to land an internship through a personal connection.

3. School Resources: Your school might have resources available for students looking for internships. This could include a career guidance center or a bulletin board with internship postings.

4. Online Search: Use online internship search sites. Be sure to use filters such as 'High School Students' and 'Summer' to narrow down your search.

As for pre-college summer programs, many universities offer such programs to allow high school students to explore college subjects.

1. Check the websites of universities you're interested in, as many of these programs are hosted on college campuses.

2. Look for programs that involve subjects you're keen on. For example, if you're interested in engineering, you might look at pre-college engineering programs.

Remember, the key to securing a great internship or spot in a pre-college program is to start your search early. The sooner you start looking, the more choices you'll have and the better chance you have of securing a position before they fill up. Stay open-minded as various experiences could present an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge.

Always remember to follow up on your applications, be professional in your communication, and project your enthusiasm for the opportunity while applying. Best of luck in your search for summer opportunities!
