Why do Teens Drop Out of High School?

Been hearing about a few students dropping out of school lately and it's making me wonder. Why are teens dropping out of high school these days?

There are myriad reasons why young people might choose to leave high school before graduating. These reasons can often be complex and are usually influenced by a combination of personal, economic, and societal factors.

Academic Struggles: Some students may find their coursework challenging and become discouraged if they struggle to keep up with their peers. This struggle could be due to learning disabilities, difficulty with English as a second language, or general disconnect with traditional educational models or curriculum.

Financial Factors: Some students have to leave school to work and support their families. Particularly in lower-income demographics, teenagers might face a choice between continuing school or starting work to contribute to the family income.

Family Problems: Troubles at home can make it challenging for a student to focus on their education. This could be due to domestic issues, including substance abuse within the family, family disputes, or significant care duties for family members.

Teen Pregnancy: Parenthood can be another reason why some high school students drop out. The need to care for a baby can drastically change a teen's ability to attend school, especially if adequate childcare options aren't readily available.
