Thoughts on Hardest AP Tests?

I want to challenge myself next year with the AP classes but not go overboard. Can anyone share their experiences on which AP tests they found the hardest? It would be a great help for course planning.

When it comes to gauging the difficulty of AP exams, it's important to remember that it often depends on individual strengths and interests. That being said, here's a general breakdown.

AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC and AP Chemistry tend to be considered among the most challenging, in large part due to the complex scientific concepts they cover, their reliance on proficient math skills, and the rigorous analytical thinking they require.

AP US History and AP World History, while not necessarily as dense in complex concepts as the sciences, have a broad scope and require a lot of memorization in terms of dates, events, historical figures, and their significance. These exams also require a strong aptitude for critical reading and writing analysis.

On the language side, AP English Literature and AP Language require strong reading comprehension skills, a broad vocabulary, and the ability to construct well thought out arguments. Similarly, AP foreign language exams (like Spanish, French, German, etc.) can be quite difficult if you're not already fairly fluent in the language.

It's crucial, of course, that you pick AP classes that align with your academic strengths and curiosities. For example, if you love history and have a knack for memorizing events and dates, then you may find AP US History more manageable than a student who struggles with memorization or doesn't have a passion for history.

I encourage you to chat with your teachers who can provide insights into your academic strengths and areas of improvement which can assist in making an informed decision. Good luck with your course planning!
