Colleges with strong aerospace engineering programs?

Always been a star-gazer and really interested in studying aerospace engineering in college. Do you guys know of any colleges renowned for their aerospace engineering programs? Can you also give me a brief overview of the admission requirements if possible?

Sure, several colleges are especially known for their strong aerospace engineering programs.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) are undoubtedly two of the top schools in this field. They offer Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees in Aerospace Engineering. Keep in mind, getting into either of these schools is quite competitive. You'll need an excellent academic record with strengths in math and sciences. MIT and Caltech have a holistic admission process, which means they consider all aspects of your application including your extracurriculars, essays, and recommendation letters. SAT/ACT scores are required for these schools for the 2024-2025 application cycle.

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor has one of the largest and oldest Aerospace Engineering programs and is also very highly regarded. Admissions are holistic but you'll want to have a strong GPA, challenging coursework, and good test scores. Keep in mind that UMich is still test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle.

Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) also has a strong Aerospace Engineering program. Admission requirements are similar as well - strong academics particularly in math and sciences, and well-rounded extracurricular involvements. Georgia Tech is also test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle.

Finally, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has a strong Aerospace Engineering program. The admission process is similar to the others, focusing on strong academics and well-rounded extracurricular activities.

Remember that these programs are pretty competitive, so it’s important to have backup options as well. Good luck!
