The level of difficulty in a major can be subjective and often depends on a student's skills and interests. However, here are a few majors that are often recognized as demanding due to the coursework complexity, workload, and time commitment:

1. Engineering: This can be a demanding major due to the extensive mathematics and technical skills involved. There are also various branches, each with its own set of challenges, such as electrical, civil, mechanical, and chemical engineering. Engineering majors often require rigorous study and long lab hours.

2. Physical Sciences: Majors like Physics, Chemistry, or Astronomy require strong mathematics and analytics skills. The subjects can be abstract and complex, and lab work demands precision and a lot of time.

3. Life Sciences: Majors like Biology and Biochemistry demand an extensive understanding of complex bodily systems or microscopic entities. Lab work is often an integral part of these fields, which can be time-consuming.

4. Computer Science: This major demands strong problem-solving and logic-based skills. Learning and applying coding languages can be challenging and time-consuming.

5. Pre-Med/Health Sciences: These require intensive coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and sometimes, psychology. The pressure of maintaining a high GPA for medical school admission adds another layer of challenge.

Economics, Mathematics, Philosophy, and Languages can also be challenging depending on one's natural affinity towards quantitative, logical, or linguistic capacities respectively. Always remember, choosing a major should depend on your interest and career goals rather than only considering the difficulty level. A passion for the field often makes the hard work more enjoyable and successful.
