Transition to New SAT

Hey folks, with the changes in the SAT format, how are you guys adapting your prep strategies? Any advice for a junior who hasn't taken the SAT yet?

As the SAT has transitioned to a fully digital format, preparing for the test might look a little different for you compared to students who took the print version. Here are some strategies you might find useful:

1. Familiarize Yourself with the Format: Understanding the structure and format of the new digital SAT is key. It now consists of two 32-minute modules for Reading and Writing, and two 35-minute modules for Math. You will have about 71 seconds per question for the Reading and Writing sections, and around 96 seconds per question for the Math sections.

2. Practice with Digital Tests: To get used to the new format, practice taking digital tests. The College Board provides digital practice tests. In addition, the Bluebook™ app offers a full-length practice test which mimics the digital PSAT/NMSQT.

3. Develop Time Management Skills: One of the most challenging aspects about standardized testing is time management. As the new SAT gives you more time per question compared to the old version, utilize this time to thoroughly read and understand each question before answering.

4. Focus on Key Subjects: As before, the SAT will test your knowledge in Math, Reading, and Writing. Strive to understand key concepts in these areas across a breadth of subject matter, and practice problem-solving to enhance your exam readiness.

5. Use a Calculator: The digital format of the SAT has eliminated the no-calculator Math section. You're allowed to use your calculator on both Math modules. Therefore, leverage this advantage by practicing with a calculator in order to work through problems more quickly and accurately.
