Does Northwestern University Track Demonstrated Interest?

Northwestern is definitely one of my top-choice schools. And I've heard about some colleges tracking 'demonstrated interest,' like if you visit their campus or attend their webinars. Does anyone have any idea if Northwestern does this too? If yes, what are some good ways I can show my interest besides visiting the campus (can't really do that at the moment), emailing admission officers, or attending online events? Is there anything else that they really pay attention to?

Northwestern University does not officially consider 'demonstrated interest' as part of its application review process. While visiting campus, attending virtual webinars, or emailing admissions officers can be useful for learning more about the school and crafting a compelling 'Why Northwestern?' essay, these actions won't directly affect your chances of admission.

However, you can still indirectly demonstrate interest by thoroughly researching the school and its programs as well as by connecting with the specific offerings that match your academic pursuits and personal values. This will give you the necessary knowledge to form a more authentic connection with the institution in your application.

For example, maybe you're interested in their Journalism program, you could reference specific courses, professors' research, or the way the curriculum is structured to your interest and future goals in your application essays. You might also mention extracurricular activities or clubs that align with your interests and how you plan to contribute to these communities.

Remember, it's the depth of your engagement with what Northwestern offers and how well you can communicate this in your application that will truly count, not the quantity of interactions you have with the school.
