Hardest math problems you've come across in high school?

I'm looking for a challenge! I'm currently in my junior year and have been breezing through my math classes. Are there any notoriously difficult math problems or equations I can try to solve? Naturally, I'm trying to avoid college level math problems. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

It's great that you enjoy challenging yourself with math! If you're looking for complex problems at the high school level, one source of interesting questions is various math competitions.

For example, problems from the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) or the Mathematical Olympiad Program (MOP) often provide challenging and thought-provoking math questions that can really stretch your critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Physics-based problems can also be a good workout. A suitable challenge could involve the practical application of math in real-world physics, which combine both mathematical proficiency and theoretical understanding.

Another good area to explore would be combinatorics or probability theory problems. These are a part of the high school curriculum but can get complicated quickly.

Remember, it's not just about getting the right answer, but also about understanding the process and being able to explain it. You might also consider keeping a journal where you write down not just the solution, but your thought process and any obstacles you encountered along the way. This can be a helpful tool to review and learn from your problem-solving experiences. Good luck and happy problem solving!
