Rankings and advice for Cal State schools?

Hi everyone, I’m stressing out over which Cal State school to apply to. Can anyone share a reliable ranking list or offer some advice based on personal experience?

Hi there! When deciding which Cal State schools to apply to, remember that while rankings can give a general outline of the reputation of a college, they don't necessarily tell the whole story. Each Cal State school has its unique strengths and offerings. Let's look at a few examples:

1. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo: Known for its engineering programs, business, and architecture. It's also unique in the Cal State system for its "Learn by Doing" philosophy, which places a lot of emphasis on practical experience.

2. San Diego State University: Has strong programs in business, especially entrepreneurship and international business. Also known for its hospitality and tourism program. It's a large school that often has a lively campus life.

3. Cal State Fullerton: With one of the largest student bodies in the CSU system, it has notable programs in business, particularly accounting, and it's also widely recognized for its nursing program.

4. Cal State Long Beach: Known for its engineering programs, visual and performing arts, and business/marketing programs.

Remember, the best school for you will depend on several factors including your intended major, the campus size you're comfortable with, location, and available extracurricular activities. Also, consider visiting the campuses (or taking a virtual tour if an in-person visit isn't feasible) to get a sense of the campus culture and see if it's a place where you could thrive. Ultimately, you should try to apply to multiple Cal State schools to increase your chances of acceptance and have options when decisions are released.
