Insight into animal science colleges?

Always been really keen on studying Animal Science in college but I don't know which schools have the best programs. Was wondering if any of you are in an Animal Science major currently and what your experience has been so far? Plus, which colleges would you recommend for this field?

There are many colleges with exemplary Animal Science programs nationwide, but some consistently appear at the top of the list, including:

1. University of California-Davis (UC Davis): UC Davis' Animal Science major is very comprehensive and well-regarded. Their program offers various concentrations like Livestock and Dairy, Equine, and Avian Sciences.

2. Cornell University: Cornell offers a highly-ranked Animal Science program, where students have the opportunity to perform hands-on research and internships.

3. Texas A&M: Known for its College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Texas A&M offers a diverse Animal Science program with concentrations in animal biology, production, and others.

Participating in an Animal Science program can be a rewarding experience. Academically, you're exposed to a mix of classroom and lab work along with a lot of practical learning and internships. This field is generally characterized by the study of the biology, behavior, and management of domesticated and wild animals, so you get to learn a lot about different types of animals, their care, and their contribution to society.

Student experiences in these programs can vary widely based on their concentration, the specific campus environment, and individual preferences. Some students may find internships with veterinary clinics or local farms, while others may work on research projects with faculty or even abroad relying on the opportunities provided by their institution. It would be beneficial to reach out to students currently enrolled in these programs to get their personal perspectives on the curriculum, faculty, opportunities, campus life, etc.

While these are general insights, always remember to take into consideration factors such as the location of the school, cost, and campus culture, among other elements, when making your decision. It might be valuable to set up campus tours or virtual meetings with the departments to explore specifically what each program can offer you.
