Looking for Summer Programs in Architecture

Hey everyone! I'm very interested in majoring in architecture, and I want to experience it more before applying for college. Can y'all suggest any architecture-focused summer programs that you found valuable? I'd really appreciate it.

A variety of reputable institutions offer summer programs in architecture. Some choices include:

1. Yale School of Architecture: Summer Program - Yale's offering for high school juniors and seniors includes work in drawing, design, art history and architectural history. The program's highly focused nature provides an excellent taste of studying architecture at the college level, and allows students to decide if it's the right path for them.

2. Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD): Career Discovery program - This is a six-week program that provides a comprehensive introduction into the discipline of architecture. While this program is primarily for college students and adults, advanced high school students could be considered.

3. Illinois Institute of Technology: Architecture, Design and Engineering (ADE) Workshop - This hands-on workshop runs for several weeks over the summer and gives students a feel for working on real design and engineering projects.

4. Carnegie Mellon University Summer Academy for Math + Science (SAMS) - This rigorous, residential experience allows high achieving, rising seniors from underrepresented populations to explore fields like Architecture, Design and Engineering.

5. Parsons the New School: Summer Intensive Study – Architecture – This option provides college credit and allows individuals to engage in a brief yet intense education in a variety of art and design fields, including architecture.

Please remember to look into the financial aspects of these programs, and whether or not they offer financial aid or scholarships. Furthermore, although in-person experiences offer direct access to resources and mentors, don't rule out online programs. They can be accessible, flexible, and still provide focused instruction and valuable experience. Good luck with your research!
