Is Brown University good for BME?

I'm a current high school junior and have been exploring my options in biomedical engineering. I've always admired Brown University, but I'm curious about its reputation in the BME field. Does anyone have any insights or knowledge about this?

Brown University definitely has a giving reputation in the field of biomedical engineering. The School of Engineering at Brown offers a Sc.B. degree in Biomedical Engineering which is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

One of the unique aspects about studying at Brown is the Open Curriculum, which allows students to explore courses outside their major without the constraint of general education requirements. This could be particularly appealing if you have interdisciplinary interests that complement your study of biomedical engineering, such as public health, biology, or computer science.

Furthermore, Brown's biomedical engineering department focuses on research quite heavily and offers a myriad of research opportunities for undergraduate students in areas like tissue engineering, neuroengineering, and biomedical data science.

They also have strong connections with hospitals and research institutions in the surrounding Providence area which offer opportunities for internships and collaborations.

Just don't forget that the "fit" of the university is extremely important. You should consider whether you prefer the flexible curriculum, research opportunities, and overall culture that a place like Brown provides. Also remember to look at specific faculty members whose research aligns with what you hope to pursue in the field of BME. In essence, the culture, resources, and curriculum would play a pivotal role in making your undergraduate journey fruitful and enjoyable.
