Anyone have insight into California state university rankings?

As a high school junior, I'm starting to look at college options and I'm particularly interested in the California State system. Could anybody help me with a general idea of how the various CSUs are ranked? Both overall and maybe by some major fields of study?

Sure, I can share some insights, keeping in mind that rankings should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are only one way of assessing a school's value. The quality of an institution is complex and rankings do not always reflect an individual student's needs and experiences.

The CSU system comprises a multitude of universities that excel in various fields, so it can be more helpful to think about them individually or focus more on what each school specializes in or is known for.

In overall terms, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and San Diego State University often appear in the upper echelon of rankings in the CSU system. Cal Poly specifically is renowned for its strong engineering, architecture, and agriculture programs. SDSU boasts highly-regarded programs in areas like Business, particularly in entrepreneurship and international business.

San Jose State University is also gaining standing, particularly renowned for its programs in Engineering and Business due to its location in Silicon Valley.

CSU Long Beach and CSU Fullerton are respected for subjects like Nursing and Business. CSU Chico also has a reputable Business program, and CSU Northridge has some quality Performing Arts programs.

Again, these are just rough guidelines based on conventional rankings and commonly known program reputations. It's essential that you research the specific programs you're interested in at each school and consider other factors beyond rankings, such as size, location, campus culture, and extracurricular opportunities. Moreover, remember that the CSU system is test-blind so they won't consider SAT or ACT scores at all in the application process. Do make an informed and holistic decision that considers your personal preferences and career goals.
