Need an Example of a LOCI. Help?

Hello! I'm panicked about getting waitlisted and want to start practicing a letter of continued interest. Can someone share a sample to give me a sense of what it should look like and what to include in it?

Hey there, I'm glad to see you're being proactive about this. While I can't provide a direct letter for you, I can certainly give some pointers on how you could structure a LOCI, or a Letter of Continued Interest.

The letter could be divided into four parts:

1. Introduction: Here, acknowledge being waitlisted. Thank your admissions officer for giving you the continued opportunity to be considered for admission. For instance, "I am grateful for being placed on your waitlist and appreciate your offer to consider my application for admission further."

2. Demonstrate Knowledge and Interest: Show your interest in the school by being specific about its unique aspects — programs, courses, clubs, or atmospheres you are most attracted to. For example, "The more I learn about XYZ College — from its vibrant student community to its strong program in Biology — the more it feels like the right fit for me."

3. Update on Relevant Achievements: This is a good time to mention any significant academic or extracurricular achievements that have occurred since you sent in your application — such as an improvement in your grades, taking up a new leadership position, participating in an impressive project, receiving awards, etc.

4. Closing Remarks: Reiterate your interest in the college and your dedication to attend should you get accepted. You must assure them that if they extend an offer, you will accept it.

Remember, the LOCI is your opportunity to show your genuine interest in the school, your dedication to your studies, and your willingness to contribute to their community. It's critical to sound enthusiastic, but also remember to be respectful of their decision to waitlist you.

Best of luck in your process. Hopefully you won't need to write one, but if you do get waitlisted, your initiative with this LOCI could very well make the difference!
