Searching for Remote Internships

Hi guys, pretty stressed about my lack of experience, so, I was wondering if anyone could recommend good remote internships for high school students? I'm interested in science, but open to any suggestions, really. Also, any tips on how to secure one would be great. Thanks in advance!

Sure, happy to help. Remote internships can indeed be a fantastic way to get some hands-on experience, particularly in your area of interest.

Firstly, consider looking for internships in organizations such as The National Institute of Health (NIH) or NASA. They have science internships for high school students and have been known to offer remote options. Similarly, many tech companies offer remote roles in data science, which might interest you if you're keen on combining technology with science.

Secondly, check platforms like Chegg Internships and Handshake. They're specifically geared towards students and have a pretty decent array of remote opportunities. As you look through these options, be sure to filter for high school internships as some may be reserved for college students.

To secure an internship, it's essential to have a well-prepared resume highlighting your academic achievements, any relevant courses you've taken, and all extracurricular activities that demonstrate your passion and dedication to science. Even if you lack formal job experience, your passion for the field, your academic potential, your eagerness to learn, and your soft skills are all aspects employers look for in high school interns.

When it comes to the application, be sure you tailor your cover letter for each internship. In your cover letter, share why you're interested in the organization's work, how the internship aligns with your career goals, and what you could bring to the table.

Finally, remember many science internships for high school students are often competitive, so apply to multiple opportunities and start the process well ahead of deadlines. The more internships you apply to, the higher your odds of gaining a position.

Good luck with your search!
