AP Lang scoring breakdown?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows how AP Lang and Comp scores are calculated? Any insights into the different components and weightage?

The AP Language and Composition exam score is calculated using a composite score, which is the total of the multiple-choice section and the free-response section scores. The composite score is then converted to the standardized 1-5 AP score.

1. Multiple-Choice Section: This section makes up 45% of your total score. The total number of correct answers is your multiple-choice section score. There are no deductions for incorrect answers, so it's to your advantage to answer every question.

2. Free-Response Section: This section accounts for the remaining 55% of your total score. It consists of three items: a synthesis essay, a rhetorical analysis essay, and an argument essay. Each of these essays is scored on a 0-6 scale, with 6 being the highest. Your scores on these three essays are then added together to give your free-response section score.

Both section scores are then added together to give your final composite score. Finally, this composite score is converted to the 1-5 AP score used by colleges. The actual scale converting composite scores to AP scores varies slightly from year to year, to account for differences in difficulty between different versions of the test. However, generally, a composite score of 75% or higher is required to earn a score of 5.
