What's the Acceptance Rate for Dartmouth?

I'm planning to apply to Dartmouth for the upcoming admissions cycle. Do we have any information on their recent acceptance rates? It would help set my expectations on getting in.

Sure, for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle, Dartmouth College reported an overall acceptance rate of about 6.17%. This acceptance rate might seem quite low, but remember it's representative of the entire applicant pool, not just students with similar profiles to yours. Dartmouth, like other highly selective colleges, uses the Academic Index, which is a value representing the strength of your grades, standardized test scores, and class rank. If your Academic Index is sufficiently high, your application should at least get reviewed.

However, I urge you not to place too much weight on this number alone. Admission rates fluctuate each year based on a variety of factors such as the number of applicants, the competitiveness of the applicant pool, institutional priorities, and many others.

While it's natural to look at acceptance rates as a gauge of your chances, a more fruitful approach would be to focus on developing your application's strengths - elements like strong essays, evidence of academic rigor, and impressive extracurricular involvement can all help your application stand out, regardless of the acceptance rate.
