I'm currently preparing for the AP Physics 2 test and was wondering if I could get some clarity on the exam format, specifically the balance between multiple choice and free response questions?
The AP Physics 2 exam is divided into two sections. The first section is multiple choice and the second section is free-response.
In the multiple-choice section, you’ll have 90 minutes to answer 50 questions. The questions test your understanding of the principles of physics, but they also require you to use algebra and geometric concepts to solve physics problems.
The free-response section also lasts 90 minutes and consists of 5 questions. It tests your ability to solve problems with an extended chain of reasoning. In some of the questions, you’ll have to design an experiment or interpret data from a laboratory setting. This section requires more in-depth knowledge of the material, and you'll be able to make use of your calculator.
Keep in mind that the test doesn’t cover all the material you learned in your AP Physics 2 class. Rather, the test is designed to evaluate your understanding of fundamental physics concepts and principles, as well as your ability to apply these concepts and principles to solve problems.
Good luck with your studies and the exam! The AP Physics 2 test is challenging but with consistent study and practice, you should be able to do well.
