When are the general deadlines for college applications?

Hey folks, I'm a junior who's just started gathering information about college applications. Could anyone tell me when the typical application deadlines are for colleges? I'm afraid that I will miss some if I don't start keeping track.

College application deadlines vary by school and by the application plan (Early Decision, Early Action, Regular Decision) you are choosing. Here's a general idea:

1. Early Decision (binding) and Early Action (non-binding): These deadlines typically fall between November 1 and December 1, although a few schools have October deadlines.

2. Regular Decision: The majority of Regular Decision deadlines are between January 1 and February 1. Some colleges may extend their deadlines to as late as March, but these are more the exceptions than the norm.

3. Rolling Admissions: Colleges with rolling admissions evaluate applications as they arrive, rather than waiting to review all applications after a hard deadline. These schools often open their applications in late summer or early fall.

4. Late Deadlines and Extensions: There are a good number of schools that have deadlines in February or later, and some colleges extend their initial deadlines or may still accept applications after their final deadlines, space permitting.

5. Transfer Applications: If you're considering transferring, deadlines can be as early as March or as late as June or even July, depending on the college.

Remember to factor in time to work on your essays, gather recommendation letters, send test scores, and ensure everything is in order. Start by constructing a list of all schools you’re applying to, track each of their deadlines, and plan your schedule accordingly. Always check the specific dates on each college's admissions webpage to confirm, as they can change from year to year.

Good luck with your college applications!
