Anybody know how to equate a PSAT score to the SAT? I'm trying to gauge how I might perform on the real test, based off my PSAT results. Thanks in advance for any help.
Converting a PSAT score to an equivalent SAT score is not a one-to-one conversion, but it's relatively close. For instance, if you scored an 1150 on your PSAT, that could roughly translate to around an 1180 on the SAT.
You should note, though, that the maximum scores differ; the PSAT tops out at 1520, while the SAT goes up to 1600. Therefore, if you're at the higher score end on the PSAT, there's still room for growth on the SAT, even if you've maxed out the PSAT score.
Also bear in mind that, in terms of the content and style of the questions, these are very similar tests. So if you identify any areas of challenge on the PSAT, you can use that info to steer your SAT prep.
One more important thing to note is that both the SAT and PSAT are now digital. There aren't any no-calculator sections on either test anymore and the total duration of both tests is 134 minutes. By practicing and preparing well, you can improve your final SAT score, regardless of your initial PSAT outcome.
