Any Good Schools for Meteorology?

Super interested in weather patterns and climate stuff, so, I'm considering studying meteorology in college. Do you guys know any reputable schools for that? Plus, any meteorology students or grads here who can share their experiences? I'd love some advice from you. Thanks!

Absolutely! When considering a field like Meteorology, you'll want to look for schools that not only offer relevant degree programs but also have strong partnerships for internships and research opportunities.

One of the top schools for meteorology is the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). They have a comprehensive meteorology program housed in their College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, which consistently ranks highly in various national evaluations.

Another excellent choice could be Florida State University (FSU). FSU boasts the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies, which provides unique research and internship opportunities for students in the field.

Then there's the University of Oklahoma (OU). OU's School of Meteorology provides great hands-on experience via research opportunities and a weather station right on campus.

Lastly, I'd suggest taking a look at the University of Miami, which offers a Bachelor's in Marine and Atmospheric Science.

For current students or recent grads in meteorology, they often praise the close-knit community within these programs given the niche nature of the field. They also highlight the importance of internships and practical experiences – whether it's a research project, an internship with a weather station, or even a broadcasting station for those interested in the more visual aspects of conveying weather information to a broader audience.

However, make sure to not solely focus on school reputation. It's also key to consider the overall campus environment, financials, and location climate, as studying weather in an area prone to certain weather phenomena could provide unique learning experiences! Each of the schools above offers different distinct advantages due to location.

Remember, the college selection process is about finding what works best for your academic and personal needs.
