Need Insights about the AP World History Exam

Hey everyone, I'll be sitting for the AP World History exam soon. Does anyone have any predictions on what the exam might focus on this year? Or where I can find these predictions? I'm excited but also kinda nervous. Thanks in advance!

While it's impossible to predict with absolute certainty what the AP World History exam will focus on, what you can do is study the structure and nature of the test which stays consistent year to year.

Here's a brief overview:

1. Section 1, Part A: 55 Multiple Choice questions in 55 minutes, covering periods from 1200 to the present.

2. Section 1, Part B: 3 Short Answer questions in 40 minutes, usually asking you to analyze sources or make comparisons across periods.

3. Section 2, Part A: A Document-Based question in 60 minutes (including a 15-minute reading period), which requires you to create an argument grounded in an analysis of the provided documents.

4. Section 2, Part B: 1 Long Essay question in 40 minutes, asking you to demonstrate your understanding of a particular historical period or theme.

Macroeconomic and world geopolitical trends can possibly influence some questions or essays, so being aware of current affairs can provide extra context for your answers. For example, if there's been a lot of discussion around global climate change, you might find a question prompting you to analyze historical periods of environmental shifts and their impact on societies.

The College Board website is a good resource to familiarize yourself with the AP World History exam, including sample questions and scoring guidelines. You may also want to consider study resources like review books or online study groups. Prepping with past exam papers, for example, can help you understand the type of questions that are typically asked and how they're scored.

Try not to stress out too much – you're already showing initiative by asking for advice, and that motivation will serve you well in your studying! Best of luck with your exam!
