What's the current SAT to ACT conversion chart?

Hey guys, I've taken both the SAT and ACT and I'm trying to figure out which score would be more advantageous to send in my college apps. I'm finding a ton of different charts online, and it's hard to know which one's most accurate. Can anyone point me to a trustable, recently-updated conversion chart? Thanks!

Hello! There are indeed a multitude of charts out there, which could understandably be perplexing. Nevertheless, the College Board provides a concordance table which is usually reliable as it is produced by the organization that administers the SAT. This table allows you to match your SAT score with a corresponding ACT score, and vice versa.

Given your SAT score, you can see which range of ACT scores corresponds to it. Similarly, with an ACT score, you can find the corresponding range of SAT scores. Be aware that there isn't always an exact match; instead, you'll get a score range.

However, keep in mind that colleges are familiar with the slight discrepancies among different conversion charts. As such, admissions officers generally understand the slight variability and place scores in the appropriate context amidst other application elements.

Given that the conversion charts can differ slightly, it is also important to ensure which test aligns better with your skills. For example, if you excel at science reasoning or prefer a faster pacing, the ACT might be a more suitable test. Meanwhile, if you thrive in reading comprehension or prefer having more time per question, the SAT might be more advantageous.

But, definitely a key take-a-way, is to submit the score where you are in a higher percentile. That's potentially more significant than the raw conversion. Best of luck with your applications!
