Where Can I Find the 2024-25 Common App Prompts?

I'm getting an early start on my college applications and I'd like to see the Common App prompts for 2024-25 so I can brainstorm over the summer. Does anyone know when these prompts will be officially released, or where I might be able to find them now if they've already been published? Also, any tips on how to tackle these prompts effectively would be really appreciated!

The Common App usually releases its essay prompts for the next application cycle in the early part of the year. The prompts for the 2024-2025 application cycle have likely been released already and can be located on the Common App's official website.

As for advice on tackling the prompts, a few general tips can be helpful.

1) Start with Brainstorming: Take some time to reflect on each prompt. Jot down ideas or personal experiences that immediately come to mind. This will not only give you a array of ideas to choose from, but it may also lead you to an unexpected topic that feels meaningful and authentic.

2) Show your Individuality: Remember that the essay is about showcasing who you are as an individual. Colleges are looking to understand more about your character, your experiences, and how you view the world.

3) Be Story-oriented: Try to craft your essay around a narrative or story from your own life. This will naturally make your essay more engaging and will help you show your personality and perspective, rather than tell it.

4) Revise, Revise, Revise: Never underestimate the power of revision. It will probably take multiple drafts to get to a final product that truly reflects who you are and what you want to convey.

Just remember, there is no magic formula to writing a perfect college essay. The most successful essays are the ones that are authentic, personal, and well-considered. The goal is to provide insight into who you are beyond your grades and test scores. Best of luck in your writing process!
