Which colleges offer strong zoology majors?

I'm really interested in studying animals and thinking about majoring in zoology when I go to college. I'm having trouble finding a list of colleges that offer solid zoology programs. Does anyone know which schools have strong departments or opportunities for research in this field? I'm looking for places that not only have the major but also excellent faculty and hands-on opportunities. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

There are quite a number of colleges with reputable zoology programs that offer strong curricular instruction as well as numerous research opportunities for their students. Here are a few examples:

1. Colorado State University: One of the leaders in the zoology field. They have cutting-edge research opportunities and a renowned faculty who support undergraduate involvement in research.

2. Miami University: This Ohio-based university has an exceptional zoology program. The school’s strong emphasis on original research, including at the undergraduate level, might be of interest to you.

3. Michigan State University: MSU is committed to providing undergraduates with research experiences. In their zoology program, you’ll have opportunities to study a wide variety of organisms and ecosystems.

4. University of Wisconsin – Madison: UW-Madison has a well-regarded zoology program and offers plenty of chances for students to gain research experience on and off campus.

5. Oregon State University: With their robust Zoology major, you'll have a chance to participate in the research being conducted by faculty, everything from marine mammal research to studying animal behavior.

Remember to review the course catalog and faculty research interests at each of these schools to ensure they align with your own interests in the zoology field. Additionally, consider reaching out to the departments directly to ask about the opportunities they offer for undergraduate research and other hands-on learning experiences.
