Exploring art schools in Oregon for college applications

I'm thinking about applying to art schools in Oregon because I've heard it's a creative place with lots of opportunities. Does anyone know which art schools are the best in Oregon? I'm particularly interested in any programs that might combine technology and traditional arts as I'm into digital art as well. I'd love to hear about the overall experience, like campus culture and resources available. Thanks for any help!

Sure, there are several art schools in Oregon that you might want to consider.

Firstly, Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC) is well-known for its approach to integrating students' experiences with handcrafts and digital technology. Unfortunately, OCAC was merged with the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), but their philosophies would have been integrated into the PNCA curriculum.

PNCA is another great option, located in a creative environment in the heart of Portland. The college offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animated Arts, which might appeal to you if you're into digital art. PNCA is known for its supportive, close-knit community, unique courses, and excellent faculty. It provides students with the resources they need, such as Mac labs complete with top-of-the-line software and a fabrication lab with 3D printers and laser cutters.

The University of Oregon (UO) is also worth looking into. Its Digital Arts Program, a part of the School of Art + Design, emphasizes the potential of computing and multimedia for creating innovative artworks. UO's campus culture is quite vibrant and diverse, with always something happening.

Southern Oregon University in Ashland also has an interesting Digital Arts program in its Art Department. It's a smaller university but located in an artistic town, famous for its annual Shakespeare festival.

Just remember to look beyond rankings. Visit the programs if possible and talk to students and faculty. Look into what resources the school offers, like galleries, studios, digital labs, and internship opportunities. See what kind of work current students are producing and if it aligns with your own artistic goals. Lastly, consider the cost and how you can fund your education. Oregon offers several scholarships that you might qualify for.

Good luck with your search!
