When do you take the SATs in high school?

I'm a junior trying to plan out my schedule, and I'm wondering when most students typically take the SAT for the first time. Is there a specific grade or semester that is best for attempting it? Also, any advice on whether I should take it more than once would be appreciated!

Most students typically take their first SAT towards the end of their junior year of high school. Usually, the spring semester is a popular choice, around March or May, after they have had the chance to learn most of the necessary material in their classes. Taking the SAT at this time also provides students with the summer to analyze their results and decide whether to retake the test in the fall semester of their senior year.

As for taking the SAT more than once, it's common practice for many students. Studies suggest that students generally improve their scores on their second try. This happens for a variety of reasons: they know what to expect, they've had more time to study and prepare, and they can focus on improving their weak areas having identified them from their initial attempt. However, do keep in mind not to take the test more than three times, as this could indicate to colleges that you're struggling to achieve your target score.

Remember, preparation is key to improving your scores. Leverage resources like Khan Academy or College Board's study materials to familiarize yourself with the test format and practice extensively. Happy studying!
