Searching for Colleges Close to Charlotte, NC

Hey everyone! As a high school junior, I'm on the hunt for colleges that are close to Charlotte, NC. I live in the area, and I'm trying to figure out what my options might be if I want to stay nearby after graduation. What are some schools around here that I should consider? I'm interested in schools with strong engineering and business programs, but I'd love to hear about anything unique or exceptional too. Thanks in advance for your help!

There's actually a good mix of colleges and universities in and around Charlotte, NC, that might cater to your interests!

Starting with those right in the city, you have the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte). This public institution has a large and diverse offering of programs, including a noted College of Engineering and Belk College of Business that might be particularly of interest given your preferences. UNC Charlotte is also the fastest-growing campus in the UNC system, which could mean more resources and opportunities down the line.

Around 20 miles north of Charlotte, you'll find Davidson College, a highly regarded liberal arts college. While traditionally stronger in the humanities, Davidson also offers a solid Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.

If you're open to schools a little further away, consider North Carolina State University (NC State), which is located in Raleigh, about 2.5 hours from Charlotte. NC State is known for its strong programs in both engineering and business, making it a potential fit for your interests.

Perhaps a bit of a wildcard, but worth considering, is Elon University. About two hours away, Elon has a fantastic business school, and they also collaborate with NC State to offer a dual degree program in engineering. So you could potentially get the best of both worlds there, studying at a liberal arts college and a large research university.

Each of these schools has a different atmosphere and set of strengths, so consider what you're looking for in your college experience and check out these campuses if you can. Best of luck in your search!
