Exploring Majors at Loyola Chicago: What Are My Options?

I'm currently a high school junior and starting to seriously consider where I want to apply for college. Loyola Chicago has caught my attention, but I'm really curious about the range of majors they offer. I'm interested in both science and humanities, so I'm hoping to find a college that provides a strong program in both areas. Can any current students or alumni share insights on the popular majors at Loyola Chicago? Also, if there are any unique programs that the university is known for, I'd love to hear about those too. Thanks!

It's good to hear you're proactively considering your college options and checking out the academic offerings. Loyola University Chicago offers a broad range of programs across various disciplines.

For those interested in the sciences, Loyola has robust offerings. The Biology and Biochemistry programs are quite well-known and rigorous. Loyola also has an up-and-coming Environmental Science program. It also boasts strong pre-health programs, should you be interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.

In terms of humanities, the majors in English, Philosophy, and History are all solid, with a strong faculty and a diverse range of courses. There is also a strong emphasis on social justice throughout their curriculum, which adds a unique spin to these programs.

One unique program that Loyola Chicago is known for is their Institute of Environmental Sustainability (IES). The IES offers a selection of interdisciplinary majors and minors, providing students with both the scientific background and the ethical, economic, and policy understanding needed to address today's environmental problems.

For the business-oriented, the Quinlan School of Business has several undergraduate majors to choose from, including Economics, Finance, and Marketing among others. If international affairs interest you, you might want to look into their International Studies program which is also highly regarded.

Of course, these are just highlights. I encourage you to go through Loyola Chicago's offerings in more detail to see what courses and programs resonate with your interests. Best of luck in your academic journey!
