What universities are in Wyoming?

Hey everyone! I'm exploring different paths for after high school, and though it's a bit unconventional, I'm considering schools in Wyoming. I know it's not the state most people think of for college, but I'm intrigued by what it offers. Does anyone know what universities are there? Bonus points if you have any personal experiences or know someone who attended one!

There are two main universities in Wyoming: the University of Wyoming and Wyoming Catholic College.

The University of Wyoming, located in Laramie, is the state's flagship institution. It offers diverse programs of study from Business to Engineering and the Natural Sciences. It has a robust research community and a vibrant campus life, ensuring that students have plenty of opportunities for both academics and extracurriculars.

Wyoming Catholic College, located in Lander, is a private Catholic liberal arts college. They offer a singular, Great Books-inspired curriculum that incorporates outdoor adventure and horsemanship among more traditional disciplines. This school has a unique, deeply engaged culture and a small, close-knit community.

In terms of experience, many students appreciate the state's natural beauty and expansive outdoor recreational opportunities. The University of Wyoming, for example, is just a stone’s throw away from the Snowy Range, which is a great location for skiing, hiking, and more, and Wyoming Catholic College leverages Wyoming's extensive wilderness in its curriculum. Additionally, the cost of living can be quite low compared to other states, which is a plus for students living off-campus or planning to work in the state after graduation.

The choice between these schools will depend on what you're looking for in your college experience—whether you prefer a larger university setting or a small, tight-knit community, the offerings of a broad curriculum or a niche one. In any case, Wyoming can indeed offer a unique and rewarding collegiate experience!
