What are some good colleges close to Nashville?

I'm a high school junior starting to think about college options, and I'm wondering about schools near Nashville, Tennessee. I know there are some big names like Vanderbilt, but I'm curious about what other options might be available that could be a good fit for me. Ideally, I'd love to find a school with a strong community and good academic programs. If anyone has insights on the vibe at these colleges or any recommendations, that would be amazing!

There are quite a few universities in and around Nashville that offer a variety of strong academic programs. Each of these schools has its own unique culture and community, so it's important to look beyond just academics to see what kind of environment you would enjoy.

Besides Vanderbilt University, Belmont University is another popular choice. Located in Nashville, Belmont is known for its programs in the music business, nursing, and business, among others. The campus size is also more manageable compared to Vanderbilt and offers a tighter-knit community.

Another notable institution is Tennessee State University, a historically black public institution offering a wide array of academic programs. Tennessee State is located in Nashville and is known for its engineering, health sciences, and business programs.

Lipscomb University, another Nashville institution, is a private Christian university known for its more intimate learning environment due to smaller class sizes. It has a strong focus on liberal arts and professional studies, and it's known for its education, nursing, and business programs.

Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, a short drive from Nashville, is the largest undergraduate university in the state. It offers approximately 311 degree programs and is especially well-regarded for its music (especially the recording industry), aerospace, and concrete industry management programs.

Just south of Nashville, Sewanee: The University of the South is a liberal arts college known for the strength of its writing, English, and environmental studies programs. It also boasts a unique campus setting, situated on a 13,000-acre campus known as the Domain.
