Has Anyone Gone on a Tour of Drexel University?

I'm planning a trip to visit colleges next month, and one of the schools on my list is Drexel University. I'm trying to get a sense of the campus vibe, and I've heard the tours can shape your impression of a place. What are the campus tours like at Drexel? Do they cover a lot of the campus, and are there cool things I should check out while I'm there? If anyone has visited recently or has any tips, I'd love to hear them!

A visit to Drexel University offers a unique chance to experience the urban campus environment that is integral to Drexel's identity. While the tour guides try to provide a comprehensive overview of the university, keep in mind that everyone's experience can be different.

Generally, the tours cover main campus spaces such as the iconic Main Building with its architectural details, the Recreation Center, the dining hall, some classrooms, and a room in one of the residence halls. One of the highlights also tends to be the Daskalakis Athletic Center, Drexel's sports hub. You'll likely also walk by numerous academic buildings, though the insides of these are typically not included in the tour.

The tour guides are usually current students, so they add a personal touch to the tours, sharing their experiences and insights into life as a Dragon. This presents an excellent opportunity to ask questions that give you a deeper understanding of the university culture, the academic programs, and the student life.

While you are on campus, you might consider exploring some things that the tour doesn’t cover. For example, the vibrant University City neighborhood warrants a walk-through, with its restaurants, shops, bookstores, and other college town amenities. Remember, a significant part of your college experience happens outside campus, so it's worth understanding the neighborhood vibe.

Also, if you have a specific major or academic program in mind, do reach out to the respective department beforehand. They may offer specialized tours or allow you to sit in on a class, which can provide more insight into what studying that major at Drexel might be like.

Overall, it's recommended that you consider both the official guided tour and some independent exploration to fully understand Drexel. You can also take a virtual tour in advance of your visit so that when you make it in person, you already have a sense of where you are and what you want to learn: drexel.edu/admissions/visit-tours. It's all about finding if you can envision yourself thriving in this urban and active university environment!
