Curious about the Accounting program at North Carolina State University

Hey everyone, I'm currently a junior in high school, and I'm starting to look into potential colleges and programs for after graduation. One of the programs that I'm particularly interested in is Accounting at North Carolina State University. Does anyone know what their Accounting program is like? I'm keen on finding a school that not only offers a strong curriculum but also has good internship opportunities and career support services. How has NC State fared in these aspects?

Also, any insights into campus life or student organizations related to business or accounting would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

North Carolina State University (NC State) has a strong Accounting program within the Poole College of Management. They offer both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accounting program if you're thinking of going to graduate school. Their curriculum is robust and includes coursework in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and tax and audit topics. They also provide courses to prepare students for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination, which is a significant advantage if you're considering becoming a CPA.

In terms of internships and career support, NC State is well-regarded. They have a dedicated career center for business students that provides resources like resume reviews, mock interviews, career fairs, and industry-specific workshops to help you land a good internship or job. Many students secure internships at renowned accounting firms, such as the "Big Four" (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC) as well as local businesses and corporations. These opportunities are largely due to NC State's excellent connections in the industry.

NC State also has several student organizations you might be interested in. The Accounting Society is a prominent group on campus that hosts networking events, brings in guest speakers from the industry, and has professional development workshops. They also run the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, where students help low-to-moderate-income individuals in the local community prepare their tax returns. This can be a great way to apply what you're learning in the classroom and serve the community at the same time.

As for campus life, NC State has a vibrant community. It's a large school, so there are a lot of activities and events happening almost every day. Being part of the ACC, they also have a strong sports culture, particularly in basketball. Plus, Raleigh has a lively student scene, with lots of restaurants, shops, and cultural events to explore.

Remember, while these resources and opportunities are available, it's up to you to take advantage of them and make the most out of your college experience. Best of luck with your decision!
