What is on-campus housing like at Georgia Southern?

Hi everyone! I'm seriously considering attending Georgia Southern University, and I'm super curious about what the on-campus housing options are like. How are the dorms in terms of size and amenities? Do most students stay on campus, or is off-campus housing more popular? Also, any tips for incoming freshmen when it comes to picking the best dorm would be much appreciated!

Hello! Georgia Southern's housing options on each of the three campuses, Statesboro, Armstrong, and Liberty are designed to provide students with a comfortable living and learning environment.

For the main campus in Statesboro, there are residence halls specifically for first-year students, like Eagle Village and Kennedy Hall. These options offer rooms that are shared between two students, and they each have their own beds, desks, and wardrobes. Common areas in the halls include study rooms, lounges, and kitchens.

Southern Courtyard, Southern Pines, and University Villas are apartment-style options that allow greater independence. These are generally frequented by upperclassmen and provide private bedrooms and closets, as well as a shared living room, dining area, and fully-equipped kitchen.

Where you choose to stay might also be influenced by what Learning Community you're part of, as Georgia Southern houses some of these communities together to build a sense of camaraderie.

A significant number of students at Georgia Southern do choose to stay on campus, especially during their first year or two. However, off-campus housing is also popular, particularly with upper-level students who enjoy the freedom and independence it provides, along with the opportunity to potentially lower their cost of living.

As for picking the best dorm, that can depend a lot on your personal preferences. If you are looking for a quieter, more academic-focused environment, Centennial Place might be a good fit. Conversely, Southern Courtyard or University Villas might be a better choice if you desire more of an independent living situation.

Remember to apply for on-campus housing as early as possible to secure your preferred option since spaces get filled up quite quickly! Good luck with your decision!
