How are the dorms at Pepperdine University?

I'm thinking about applying to Pepperdine University and I'd love to know more about the campus dorms. What's the living situation like—are the dorms spacious and well-maintained? Also, do the dorms have a good community feel? I'm really looking to get a sense of the student life on campus. Any insights from current or past students would be awesome!

Pepperdine University offers quite a unique housing situation that many students appreciate. First, all students are required to live on campus for their first two years, which encourages a tight-knit community and easily facilitates collaborations, friendships, and study groups.

Regarding the condition of dorms, they are generally well-maintained and spacious. Many rooms offer panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean which is quite a mesmerizing sight for many students. Each residential suite usually houses 7-8 students with most of the rooms being doubles, which indeed offers ample space to each student. The suites contain bathrooms and a shared living room for students to hang out or study together, while some even have a kitchenette.

The housing system at Pepperdine is unique because it's divided into houses, more akin to the house system you may see at British universities. Each house maintains its own traditions, events, and identity that foster a strong community spirit and encourages student engagement and interaction. This house system really helps to create a sense of belonging and forms a major part of student life at Pepperdine.

Common areas are usually very active with students studying, chatting, or just unwinding after a day of classes. Many students mention the convenient location of the dorms - close to the library, classrooms, dining hall, and other campus facilities, which makes for an easy daily routine.

Please remember though, like at any college, experiences can vary significantly from student to student, and it's always a good idea to visit the campus personally or connect directly with former or current students to get a more in-depth perspective.
