What average GPA is needed to get into BYU Provo?

I'm curious about what GPA I should realistically aim for if I want to apply to BYU Provo. Does anyone know what the average GPA is for students who get accepted? I'd love to hear from current students or anyone who's gone through the process. Are there other important factors that BYU looks for in applicants? Thanks!

The middle 50% GPA of students admitted to Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo typically ranges from 3.86 to 4.00 on a 4.0 scale. Keep in mind, that this means that many students are accepted with GPAs below this average, while others have GPAs above this level.

In addition to your GPA, BYU Provo considers other parts of your application. The school is selective, and academic achievement plays a significant role, but BYU also places a strong emphasis on the personal components of an application. These components can include extracurricular involvement, leadership, service, talent, and personal essays. Admissions also gives weight to the recommendation from your bishop or another church leader if you're a member of the LDS church.

BYU Provo is known for its concept of the "Three Aims of a BYU Education," which are intellect, character, and spirituality. If you can exemplify these aims in your application, you will be a strong candidate, despite your GPA.

The best way to improve your chances is by focusing on maintaining strong academics while also developing your character through meaningful extracurriculars and service, especially those that demonstrate leadership and commitment. Writing compelling essays that connect your experiences and values to the mission and values of BYU Provo will also help your application shine.
