What's College of Mount Saint Vincent Campus Life Like?

I'm looking into applying to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, and I'm really curious about what the campus life is like there. Can anyone share some insights on the social scene, clubs, or any special traditions they have? I'm trying to get a feel for if it's a tight-knit community or if it's more of a commuter school vibe. Also, any info on housing or dorm life would be great. Thanks!

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is a small, private college located in the Riverdale area of the Bronx, New York. Given its size, with approximately 3,202 undergraduates on record, it's typically described as having quite a tight-knit community feel, a stark contrast to many other larger institutions that you may come across.

There's a great variety when it comes to clubs and organizations available on campus. From an American Sign Language Club to the Campus Ministry to the Biology Club, there is bound to be something that suits your interests. This can be a great way to meet other students and build that sense of community.

As for special traditions, one of the more recognizable ones is the annual "Founder's Day" celebration. This event commemorates the school's rich history and tradition. Students often dress in their finest attire and participate in a formal dinner and dance.

When it comes to housing, first and second-year students are required to live on campus, which can further contribute to that feeling of a close-knit community. Residence hall options range from classic dormitory-style rooms to suite-style living. Each dorm has Resident Assistants who plan activities and can be a resource for students.

However, do bear in mind that the campus is in New York City, which means you will have access to an amazing array of cultural, professional, and entertainment opportunities beyond the campus. This can sometimes lead to a 'commuter school' feel, as some students prefer to explore the city in their free time.

All in all, the College of Mount Saint Vincent offers a good balance between smaller, community-oriented campus life and the broad opportunities presented by its location in one of the world's most vibrant cities.
