Exploring architecture schools in Colorado

I'm really interested in studying architecture and was thinking about schools in Colorado. Does anyone have recommendations or experiences with architecture programs there? I'm looking for a program that balances creativity with technical skills and ideally has strong connections in the industry for internships. Is the University of Colorado or any other school particularly strong in this field?

The University of Colorado Denver is a great option for architecture. CU Denver's architecture program, located in the College of Architecture and Planning, is accredited and reputable. By combining both technical and creative aspects of architecture, the curriculum covers areas like architectural design, construction technologies, digital design, and architectural history.

An advantage of this program is its location in a city with plenty of architectural firms. This presumed proximity would theoretically increase your chances of landing internships and networking opportunities in the industry.

Colorado State University, though not as well-established in Architecture as CU Denver, has started to gain recognition. It offers a unique Integrated or Convergent Design path in their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program. This could be a consideration if you’re looking for an approach that merges various design fields, including architecture.

Before you decide, be sure to check out how the programs align with your personal style and goals. Look at the portfolio of projects from the students and faculty, check out the types of courses they offer, and see if you have the opportunity to get hands-on experience through internships or co-op opportunities. Reach out to current students or alumni if you can, they usually provide valuable insights that you won't get from the college website.
