Can someone share their experience visiting Virginia Tech?

I'm considering applying to Virginia Tech and planning a campus visit soon. Would love to hear from anyone who's visited Virginia Tech recently or is familiar with what the tour experience is like. What are some must-see places on campus, and are there any tips for making the most out of a day there? Also, how accessible is the campus, and are there any nearby attractions worth checking out while I'm in the area? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm glad to hear that you're planning a visit to Virginia Tech. Experiencing the campus firsthand can give such a unique perspective and contribute significantly to your school selection process.

When visiting Virginia Tech, the main tour will give you a broad overview of the campus and facilities, so make sure to take full advantage of it. Tours usually run for about 90 minutes, and you'll cover many of the notable spots, such as the Drillfield (the campus's central open space), Hahn Horticulture Garden (a beautiful 6-acre garden with various plants), and Newman Library.

One of the must-see areas is the Residential Quad, a beautiful area offering a great glimpse of student life. The athletics facilities are also quite impressive, particularly Lane Stadium where the Hokies' football team plays.

Most visitors comment on how accessible the campus is. The buildings are mostly clustered together making it easy to navigate the campus on foot. There is also a campus shuttle, called the BT (Blacksburg Transit), that offers regular service and has extensive coverage throughout campus.

As for outside the campus, it’s definitely worth exploring the town of Blacksburg itself. You'll find a lively downtown area with local shops, restaurants, and coffee shops that many students frequent. The Huckleberry Trail is a beautiful place for a walk or bike ride if you have the time.

Lastly, I'd recommend attending an information session, if available, in addition to your campus tour. These sessions usually provide valuable insight into Virginia Tech's academics, student life, and admissions process.

Remember to engage with your tour guide and any staff you meet during your visit. They can offer personal insights and tips that you might not find elsewhere. Don't hesitate to ask questions and engage with people to make the most of your visit.
