What are the DePaul residence halls like?

I’m interested in attending DePaul University and curious about the living situation there. What are the residence halls like, and are there any particular ones that are more popular or nicer to live in? Are there any amenities or features that stand out? Also, how’s the community feel within these residence halls? I'd love any insights or tips from current students!

DePaul University has several residence halls, each with its unique flavor, and most first-year students live in either Corcoran Hall, Seton Hall, or University Hall. All of them are roomy and well-maintained.

Corcoran Hall is the largest and one of the most favored by many because it offers a mix of traditional and apartment-style living. It also has a nice view of the Chicago skyline. It's right in the middle of the Lincoln Park campus, which is quite convenient for getting to classes.

Seton Hall, on the other hand, is a bit older and traditionally houses honors students. Its location is a bit more tucked away, which some students prefer.

University Hall, meanwhile, is located closer to the Student Center and is known for its spacious rooms.

In terms of amenities, all residential halls at DePaul have study lounges, communal kitchens, and laundry facilities. Many also feature game rooms and are all equipped with Wi-Fi. Keep in mind that DePaul is located in a lively urban setting, so students also often take advantage of the things within walking distance of the dorms: restaurants, coffee shops, theaters, and other entertainment.

As for community, each hall tries to foster a strong sense of belonging amongst its residents. There are a variety of activities and events, such as floor dinners, movie nights, and themed events organized by resident advisors (RAs) that help build a community spirit.

Remember that the "nicest" dorm often depends on what you're looking for in a living situation. Some prioritize location, others look for a vibrant social scene, and some prefer a quieter, more study-focused environment. It's beneficial to make a list of your must-haves and use it to guide your housing decision.
