What are the Best Colleges for Learning Differences?

Hey everyone! I'm currently starting to think about which colleges would be the best fit for me, and I'm particularly interested in schools that offer great support for students with learning differences. I've been using some accommodations in high school, and I really want to find a college that understands and supports students like me.

I've heard of a few schools that might have good programs, but I'm not sure where to start or which ones are considered the best. Does anyone have recommendations or personal experiences they could share? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I start to navigate this next step. Thanks in advance!

Sure, glad to help! When picking a college that offers good support for students with learning differences, it's really important to look at the resources the school offers. You want to make sure they have a dedicated Office of Disabilities or similar department, and the extent of support they provide.

Here are few colleges known for their exceptional support for students with learning differences:

1. University of Arizona: They have a Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (SALT) Center which provides comprehensive support such as tutoring, educational planning, strategies for mastering college, and workshops.

2. American University: They have the Learning Services Program (LSP) designed to support the academic success of students with learning disabilities.

3. University of Denver: They have a Learning Effectiveness Program with one-on-one academic counseling, organization and time management support, and more.

4. Lynn University: They have the Institute for Achievement and Learning, which includes services like consultations for learning strategies, content tutoring, and academic coaching.

5. Muskingum University: Their PLUS program offers a range of support services, including learning strategies instructions, peer and professional tutoring, and more.

In addition to considering these programs, it's a good idea to reach out to these offices at the colleges you are considering. Ask them how they would support you and what accommodations they typically provide. It's always best to get a feel for the services from the people who would be helping you directly.
