Any scholarships for students from Hawaii?

I'm originally from Hawaii and was wondering if there are scholarships available specifically for students from the islands. Are there any local organizations or national foundations that offer financial aid or scholarships to Hawaiian students? I'd love to find ways to connect my background with funding opportunities!

Definitely, being from Hawaii can open up several special scholarship opportunities for you. There are scholarships solely for residents of the Aloha State, and your ethnic background—if you are of Native Hawaiian descent—can also lead to even more opportunities.

One major provider of scholarships for Hawaiian students is the Hawaii Community Foundation, which gives over $4.5 million each year through more than 160 scholarship funds.

If you're of Polynesian descent, consider applying for the Hawai'i Pacific Islander Scholarship, which aims to increase college access for Pacific Islander students.

Native Hawaiians might be eligible for the Nā Hoʻokama a Pauahi Program. This need-based scholarship is offered by Kamehameha Schools, a private charitable educational trust.

Additionally, the University of Hawaii system offers several scholarships for residents, such as the Regents and Presidential Scholarships, which are based on academic merit.

Searching for scholarships can be a time-consuming process, but the potential rewards make it well worth the effort. Remember to also complete your FAFSA to see if you're eligible for any federal grants or aid. Meeting deadlines is crucial when applying for scholarships, so be sure to keep organized and pay attention to all deadlines. Best of luck!
