How do I find scholarships for good grades?

I'm currently in my junior year, working hard to maintain a high GPA because I've heard it can qualify me for academic scholarships. However, I'm not quite sure where to begin looking for these scholarships or how competitive they usually are.

Can anyone share their experiences or resources they used to find scholarships awarded for strong academic performance? Any info on how to make my application stand out would also be great!

Absolutely, maintaining high grades can certainly open up opportunities for merit-based scholarships. Your first step could be to visit your school's guidance office or financial aid department - they usually have information about scholarships that you might qualify for.

Local businesses, community organizations, and foundations often offer scholarships for students based on their academic success - so make sure to look for those opportunities in your area, too. If you’ve had any internships or jobs, or if your parents have companies that offer scholarships for employees’ kids, do check on that.

There are also a variety of online platforms you could use to search for scholarships. While CollegeVine does not have a scholarship database, we recommend you explore trusted platforms like the U.S. Department of Labor's free scholarship search tool, Fastweb, or Scholarships.com. When using these platforms, be prepared to spend a fair amount of time filling out your profile accurately to ensure you're matched with scholarships that suit your academic achievements and other qualifications.

As far as making your application stand out - it's often about more than just grades. Scholarship committees want to see that you are a well-rounded individual. Showcase your passion projects and extra-curricular activities that signify leadership and character in addition to your academic success. Remember, while grades matter, they also want to see your drive, passion, and commitment in other aspects of your life. Write a compelling narrative about your experiences to catch the committee's attention.

Lastly, don't ignore the small scholarships! They may not seem like much, but they can add up over time. Plus, they could be less competitive, increasing your chances of securing them. Good luck with your search!
