What subjects are covered in the SAT exam?

Hey everyone, I'm planning to take the SAT soon and I'm trying to get a sense of what subjects are covered on the test. I know the SAT is a pretty big deal and I want to make sure I'm well-prepared. Can anyone break down the different sections or subjects that I need to study for? Also, any tips on how to best prepare for each section would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

The SAT, in its digital format, is divided into two main parts: Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Mathematics.

1. Evidence-Based Reading & Writing: This section is comprised of two modules, each of which is 32 minutes long and in total has 54 questions. It evaluates your ability to understand and interpret written text. Its main focus is on key reading skills like comprehension, finding evidence to best support answers, understanding words in context, and analyzing how authors build their arguments.

2. Mathematics: The math section of the SAT consists of two 35-minute modules with a total of 44 questions. It tests majority on algebra and algebraic functions, but also includes questions on geometry, trigonometry, statistics and probability. The math section is designed to assess your problem-solving skills, understanding and application of mathematical concepts.

To prepare for the SAT, for the Reading & Writing section, practice reading articles from reputable newspapers and try to understand the main arguments, authors' perspectives, and different evidence used. Additionally, study up on grammar rules as they form part of this section too.

For the Mathematics section, start by brushing up the basic concepts in the areas covered. Practicing problems and working through solutions, preferably in a timed setting, can help you improve your speed and accuracy. Ensure you are comfortable with using your calculator efficiently as well since you can use it throughout both math modules of the digital SAT.

Remember to take frequent practice tests. It's the best way to familiarize yourself with the test format and to track your progress. Pay careful attention not only to the questions you get wrong, but also the ones you find challenging or take a long time to solve. Review these questions carefully and understand why you made any mistakes or why you found the question difficult. Make sure you use practice materials that closely resemble the actual SAT.

Finally, don't forget to take care of your physical health with good nutrition, exercise and plenty of sleep, especially as the test day approaches!

Best of luck with your preparation!
