Can anyone recommend schools with strong sports management programs?

I'm super into sports and have been thinking about a future career in sports management. As college applications are coming up, I'm trying to find schools that have strong programs in this field.

If anyone knows of schools with excellent sports management programs or any specific features I should look for when evaluating these programs, please let me know. Any personal experiences or advice would be totally appreciated as I try to figure out where to apply.

Absolutely! There are several universities acclaimed for their sports management programs, and they offer an array of brilliant opportunities for students passionate about a career in sports.

1. University of Massachusetts Amherst: It's consistently ranked highly in Sport Management and offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The department is well-connected in the sports industry, which can benefit you when looking for internships and jobs.

2. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor: This institution provides a combined undergraduate degree with Kinesiology and Sport Management. Having a prestigious athletic department, it can offer practical experiences with major sports.

3. Ohio University: It boasts one of the oldest Sports Management programs and has a wide alumni network spread across the sports industry. What sets OU apart is its dual degree program, where students earn a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and Master of Athletic Administration in five years.

4. Florida State University: Known for its hands-on approach, FSU offers internships within its varsity teams and maintains strong relationships across the sporting world. The Professional Masters in Sport Administration is one to consider.

These schools have renowned athletics departments, which might give you the chance of working directly with their teams along with providing the theoretical knowledge.

When assessing these programs, consider the coursework, faculty, network, study abroad options in Sports Management, and hands-on experiences it offers. Also, don't overlook the strength of the school's network within the sports industry, as it can be vital for internships and job placements. Lastly, as you may know, the sports industry is composed of many different paths (e.g., marketing, finance, facilities management, athletic director track), so look for programs that offer a comprehensive curriculum that covers the many aspects of this industry.

Remember to also consider the overall fit of the institution – its other academic offerings, location, size, culture, and so forth. The best sports management program in the country might not be the best for you if you're not completely comfortable there. Good luck with your search!
